 yea and you hadn't even seen the OTHER plants yet!!! lmao why do you think I need to get rid of a bunch cause I can not see my fish in the green any more in non of the newer tanks but the brand new 30g just lemme know if you need any extra's of ANYTHING for the new big tank once you have it planted with your new order :-D

I don't know. I'm beginnig to question Sweet Aquatics. I placed my order last Tuesday (a week ago now) and haven't even heard back from them onwhen they will ship. Thei website now states that it can take up to 10 days to ship your order, and they don't offer free shipping anymore. I might be coming to you for plants afterall!!

Do you dose with any ferts or co2 or anything?

I would love to get some of the Rotala Indica for my tanks, they're all around mid-70s, with normal lighting, but I don't use any fertilizers, or have co2 set up, so I'm not sure if it would do well.

If it would be able to survive, any estimate on shipping to 01001, and do you have more than just one bunch of 20ish stems?

Castro: All my tanks run with low light, no ferts, no co2 nadda - I just use water & fish and it works just fine :) (Ask spoot he took all my plants so far but now he can't have any more). :)

So from what you're telling me there it'll do just fine if you'd still want it and lemme know if you'd like any other small one's?

Ideally I'd like to get as much as I can!

It's hard to find cheap plants, even java moss and fern seem to be expensive to get ahold of lol, noone around here has em.

Do you have more than the one bunch of 20ish stems?

I'd love to get two bunches if possible to spread around my tanks.

Any clue of shipping costs to 01001?

@Castro Do you want double the Rotala and all Pennywort together?
I could toss in some Hygrophilia, Ludweigia & some Jungle Vallis (just a few each so you could see what you like)? Want a lil Java moss too, spread super fast (I went from half a cup to about 4 cups stuffed full in uhm about 4-5 months lol)
I don't think I could fit it all in a small Flatrate box, so medium would be $11

@Pabearpa I have dwarf hairgrass but non I wanna take out of my carpet :-D the dwarf sag I'd really only wanna take out maybe 2-3 right now so that's prop not worth while shipping:|

Angel, I am trying to plant live in my tank for the first time and get rid of the silk/plastic that I had in there. It is still a relatively new tank. The problem I have for now is low light ( 2 15w 5000K lights) I have new bulbs 6700K ordered and they should be here in about a week. I have a question as far as the Pennywort goes. I understand that it kind of grows and takes over the top of the tank correct? That would be wonderful for my Gourami's but how do you keep it from blocking all the light to the other plants, and fish? How much does it actually take over? Does it just float on top or is it planted in the substrate? Excuse my ignorance, this is all very new to me.

Also, Do you have any nice forground plants like Micro Sords, Dwarf Baby Tears or anything like that? Also, I do like the look of the Rotala but it says that it is not good in tanks with active fish. I have a school of Tiger Barbs and they are VERY active so that probably would't work.

Also, how much to ship to area code 54301?

Sorry, Nat to comment before you, but i love Pennywort!

OH man, Inga, Pennywort is the BEST! I love it in my tank and the bright green color gives it a nice "pop". Pennywort is a fast grower and when it reaches the top of the tank, it will simply float along the top like little lily pads. My cories love to lay in the roots it sprouts out. Trimming it is super easy. Just cut it where ever you want, and take the cut end and stick it right back in the gravel. Simply as that. It will never over take your tank if you don't allow it to. Angel as beautiful Pennywort. I'd take full advantage of what she's got. It will look great in your newly planted tank. :)

Thanks Lisa that is good to know. I can talk to Angel about it and see if we can work something out. Do I need to worry about introducing plants to my tank that have been in with other fish? I hope there are no snails, I don't want any snails in my tank. When I was a kid we got one or two snails and ended up with hundreds, it was horrible.

As long as the plants came from a healthy tank, you're perfectly fine. Angel is very highly respected on this forum. She has extremely clean and healthy tanks so there is absolutely nothing to worry about. I wouldn't hesitate for one minute about buying plants from her. I would myself, but I'm maxed out on plants at this time. Check out all her aquariums under her aquarium tab :)

Awww thanks sweetie :-D I would have mailed them to you too - And once you have yours planted like I said if there's still "empty" spots just lemme know what you like and I'll send it :-D

Few side comments from my end: Starting a tank with plants a while before you add fish is PERFECT. Pennywort is ideal for new tanks for several reasons: Its a fairly hardy plant and takes lots of abuse/ newcomer "mistakes" also because it grows fast it absorbs NO's quicker then some other plants. Last but not least its a plant you can either plant in the substrate OR simply leave floating, or both as I do Fish LOVE it.
What size tank do you have...kinda wondering if you want it all or maybe half the Pennyowrt only? Also if you like I could toss in a few other plants and label them for ya, see what you like.
Now I will wash the plants for you and pick any possible snail off; that said however I can only highly recommend a few MTS snail (just googel pictures) as they will sift through your sand/ gravel and keep it well cleaned for you. But its up to you, I can send some or not, your call :)

If you look here: http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/postBitTanks.php?userid=1029 you can see my tanks and their plants so if there's something in particular that jumps out at you plant wise lemme know :)

No snails for me, Thanks. I am almost phobic of snails after being over run by them as a child. ha ha

I have a 60 gallon tank, it is newish but I have some fish in there already. It was also heavily decorated with silk plants that I am now changing out for live plants. I have 4 Gourami so I think the Pennywort will be nice for them. I guess I could do both, plant some and float some. I also like some of the real bright green plants. So far all I have is one Amazon Sword and 1 Cabomba. I could use several kinds that will work in these water conditions. I ordered bulbs that should be delivered either tomorrow or early next week. They will be 6700K so I guess that will be considered medium lighting? Also, I have gravel, not sand. I did order some plant fertilizer and substrate which I will mix in to my current gravel.

I guess now it will come down to what it will cost. My plan was a small tank, and it has gotten bigger. So far, I have more then quadrupled what I intended to spend and I am not done. Yikes! My area code is 54301 any idea on shipping cost? We will have to talk about that. You can PM me if you wish. :)

The 6700K light is perfect for plants; I run 1x32w @ 6700K over my 55g for comparison

Don't worry wayyyy back in the day I started with one 5.5g and uhm well I added one or two tanks since then - It can become quite the addictive hobby...which is why I figured to combine the addiction and being run over by plants to 'provide' for my new project lol

That is very little plants indeed so far in your tank.
You could for example plant the Rotala along the back wall; it will built runner itself and fill in, then add groups of the Pennywort here & there. And maybe for a splash of color (red & green) add some Ludwigia (you can see it in my "New 55g" on the right side)

Sure will PM you in just a minute :)

I sent you a PM, Angel. I can't wait for plants. :) I feel like a kid in a candy store. I just can't wait to have my tank looking better. Turns out, I hate plastic plants and the silk are only a little better. If I had gone ahead with cichlids, I would have had to keep them but now, I think the real will just add so much warmth to the appearance of the tank.

#28 ·
Oh, ok, so you keep the plants in a pots? That is a thought. It seemed that everything that I read said that cichlids should be with fake plants because they dig and kill plants. Goes to show, somethings can work out in other ways.
