Loach Condos

This a concept I have been working on for about 2 months and I thought it was time to test the water. The best part is my dad owns the ceramic shop so throw me your other ideas also and I will see if they are feasible.

The basic design as you see in the picture. Seperate chambers that allow the loaches or other territorial type fish to choose their own chamber and the back has an open section that the fish can mingle in behind the chambers. The back mingle chamber is optional. They can be made almost any size but lengths under 6 inches and chamber sizes under 4x4 are prefered for ease of manufacturing with what I have.

Please give your ideas and if this would be something you might be interested in. The cost can range from $5 for a small unglazed stark white one all the up to $200+ for a large glaze finished model that could have as many as 20+ chambers and be rather large.

The best part is part of the proceeds go to back to Fishforum.com. How much depends on how many people want.

Again, please let me know what you think. This is a work in progress and I don't have any actually made yet but I hope to have some in about 3 weeks if I am lucky.

Wow, Chris! That design would really look great if I see the actual appearance rather than the diagram.

That's cool, and it has a mingle area LOL where they can discuss the best ways to chew black worms without loosing them through their gills!

I am in the process of getting a couple prototypes going but it has been a challenge. Keeping the size of the walls down and keeping it in good uniform shape is not the easiest thing to do working with clay and/or ceramics.

I will be doing some more on them Tomorrow so I hope to have 3 or 4 protypes by the end of the month.

so are these just boxes? or will there be some decritive aspect to them?

They can be plain boxes, they can have fancy crystal glazes, they can have decals and pretty much anything that you have ever seen on a ceramic piece.
