Yep, they will love them, tasty snacks for barbs! And tigers are speedy and will dust them off in no time.

Barbs will eat them like candy.

It's a bad idea keeping shrimp with fish, unless that fish is an otocat.

Even if the fish don't eat the shrimp, they will stress them out.

July 1, I'd like 20. Payday and what not. Before I commit, some are going in with juvie Neon Tetra and possibly a Guoarmi. The rest will be going to their own tank. Is sand okay for them?

Whats a good asian centerpiece fish that won't eat them and will do okay in a 16 gallon tank?

Something with a very tiny mouth. Hah! Definitely not a gourami, or betta or any barbs. Perhaps a pair of celestial pearl danios and some mosquito rasboras? They'll still eat the babies, but should leave the adults alone. Also, the more fish you have in there, the less you'll see of your shrimp... They tend to hide when carnivores are circling. Remember, shrimp are a natural food for most freshwater fish.

Otocats do very well with shrimp, they wont even eat the babies.

Depends on how much space they have to hide.

Pretty much any fish is going to try and eat a shrimp if it'll fit in their mouths, but if the shrimp have plenty of places to hide from them it should be a pretty good chance.

You could even get some small diameter PVC tubing and make a little pyramid hotel that the fish can't fit in, as well as having lots and lots of plants.

Maybe give them plenty of hiding places, buy a bunch, and a good chunk of them should survive and reproduce.

The tank is cycled and stable right?
They're pretty sensetive to ammonia and poor water quality as far as I know.
And definitely be careful of any medications because alot of them contain copper, and shrimp and pretty much all invertebrates are almost assured death with metals.

Yea, centerpiece fish don't really agree with shrimp since they're pretty large...

I'm building a asian biotope tank too, and will probably keep everything under 2 inches so I can keep shrimp in it... Even so, I probably won't see them and they probably won't reproduce.

Also will need a lot of plants- Shrimp shed their skin, and if they don't have a place to hide even a tiny fish can shred them limb from limb.

Good to know. I'm still working on picking plants for the asian tank. I'd like a bunch of short ones. We may stick with just the neons and cherries then, see how it goes.
