What kind of fish can be housed with these shrimp? (yeah, I am new to fish) Are shrimp hard on plants? What water perameters make them happy? Not too happy, Lord knows I don't want to become a Shrimp rancher. Are they territorial?
I'm a shrimp rancher! Shrimps are not hard on plants, they keep plants (and the tank) algae free. I have a little 6gl planted, teeming with RCS. I drop in an algae wafer and they all wander over like a herd of cows to the hay bale. I've never noticed anything territorial going on with them. I keep mine at 77 degrees, ph is 7.8 (San Diego tap water) and mine seem pretty happy. What can you house with RCS? Nothing, in my opinion. Shrimps are tasty snacks for everyone, unless you're an oto. I can attest to the fact that a betta can chow down on 20 RCS in less than 24 hours.
Shrimps do such a great job on mowing down algae I wouldn't want to keep otos with mine as I think the otos would starve.

I had 2 bettas in my 75 and had no problem with him eating the shrimp, because my tank is nicely planted. If they have hiding places, they won't get eaten. The occasional shrimp with meet it's demise, but that's only natural. I disagree shrimp aren't tastey snacks to everyone, none of my fish eat my shrimp.
What kind of fish do you have?

In my tank I have 8 Tiger Barbs, 2 Gourami, 1 Rainbow Shark, 2 Otocinclus (sp?) and 2 Leporinus I would be afraid to add the Shrimp to that if others have had issues with them. My tank does have quite a few plants but it might not be heavy enough yet to add shrimp. Maybe someday.

The tiger barbs and gourami will deffinately munch down on them. I still keep ghost shrimp in my tank though. Granted its heavily planted and ghost shrimp are fairly bigger than RCS.

I think the shrimp would get away, but It's your judgement call. Some fish eat shrimp and other's don't like them.

Either way shrimp are at the mercy of their predators (they will view all fish as such) and will spend most of their time hiding. I much prefer seeing them out and active in the open so I'm glad I set up a shrimp only tank.

I disagree with that aswell, my shrimp in my 75 G community tank swim freely in open water. They are very comfortable, with all the fish, that could possibly eat them. Even the babies hang out in the open.
