I have read on various sites that Arowana require a tank around 250 gallons! They are HUGE fish! I too am very drawn to this fish, I think they are beautiful and majestic. I come to this thread wondering if anyone knows a fish similar in looks that is more practical for smaller tanks (up to 50 gal max).

If you have the means to provide this fish with proper space, go for it! They are semi-territorial to very territorial.. so, I am guessing you can add other fish that aren't much smaller and are non-territorial. Arowana remind me of betas.. I generally see them alone in an aquarium.
