Silver/Hueta Gar Question

I just bought this great lil guy/gal yesterday. It happened to be the day where I feed my fish frozen bloodworms and he did not seem all that interested however I am guessing due to the fact the fish was literally in my new tank for 4 hours and the fact my local petshop literally got these guys in the same day. Do these fish take a few days to adjust to a new tank? My mollies and swordtails took little to no time but I guess it depends on the species.

This is my first experience with a silver gar and was also wondering how long they may take to adapt and when I should be worried if it not eating. Also, aside from blood-worms what else do they prefer to eat?
