Since I've never heard of these until now I did a Google. I think it returned as many hits about lipstick the makeup as it did the fish. There was a thread on another forum where the general gist sounds like Gobies and shrimp are not such a great idea. Some have Gobies that don't bother them and someone mentioned the Lipstick Gobie loving anything that fits into its mouth. Especially shrimp.
Good luck on your quest for info.

Okay better late than never. I've kept one for over a year now. It loves small shrimp - I've watched him hunt down and eat baby RCS. Unlike many other stiphon-type species, this one is pretty much strictly carnivorous. I keep him with several other small feisty gobies (R. wui, stiphon sp.) , 9 yo-yo loaches, emperor tetras and tiger barbs in a 55gal connected via a bridge to a 20gal. Very cool fish. It can and does hold its own against larger fish.

I feed him (and every one else in the tank) frozen shrimp/bloodworms/etc. and some live food. After thawing the frozen food, I dump it in front of a powerhead so it looks alive.

I've only had success feeding live worms like tubifex or small red worms from a culture I keep in the backyard. Be warned where you buy live tubifex worms from though because sometimes the water in which they are kept can be contaminated with parasites like Ick. As for who might be compatible I can only give you my experience with them. I keep him/her in a odd-ball tank with a few otocinclus and pepper corys. Oh and also one male crowntail betta. So far no aggression. As for shrimp I wouldn't recommend because they are part of their food source. Hope this helps. Have a nice day!
