i really really want this fish  really bad:however; TFD states this one requires a ph of 7.5. is it true? pet stores keep all tf @7.0. i would like to acclimate him at a .2 ph adjustment per day if they keep it @7.5. will it work ?

Dragon gobies (or violet gobies) do best in the higher pH as well as in mildly brackish water. You could acclimate the fish to your own water and then slowly raise the salinity of the water to mild brackish conditions. By slowly, I mean over the course of weeks to months. During the same time period you could also work on increasing the pH gently by using crushed coral in your filter or by using an aragonite sand as your substrate (as they are filter feeders, the dragon goby would really appreciate a sand substrate).

Yeah, I was gonna say, you really need to go brackish with these guys. However, they are quite peaceful, sedentary fish, and can be kept in smaller aquariums than other 15 inch fish. I'd say a 20G long would be sufficient, assuming you provided decent cover. They're also quite unaggressive fish, so you can house them with many cool little fish like bumblebee gobies. One important thing is to use a sand substrate, as otherwise they can ingest gravel and become sick.
