Poor ABF. :(

Well, this morning before leaving for school I turned on the light and found that my ABF's entire caudal fin was nearly completely torn off! I hate to admit it, but it must have been my Betta finally snapping on him. I just can't believe he made such short work of such a long beautiful tail. :(

Then when I came back from school, I found my ABF dead, caudal fin gone, and his pectoral fins severely damaged. I guess without his caudal fin, he just couldn't generate the speed necessary to flee from my Betta. :( :(

I'm very mad at my Betta right now. My ABF was my favorite fish in the tank.

I should have known better though. Two aggressive top dwellers wouldn't mix. I suppose I thought my tank size would leave them with their own comfort space but obviously it wasn't enough.

Damn Betta.

RIP ABF.

Tanks: 40 gal FW setup, 10 gal Reef tank.

I'm ready for the pressure.
The drama and the pleasure!
If there is one thing I want to see here, it's HUMOR.
I believe I can fly!
I believe I can touch the sky!
I think about it every night and day!
I stand in awe of my body.

Thanks. Well, that was literally the only aggression in my tank. Honestly, sometimes I regret buying this Betta. The acquisition of such an aggressive species has severely limited my stocking plans. Any similar-sized fish that are bright etc he'll fight with, any smaller, faster fish will just bug the hell out of him, possibly nipping his fins in most cases.

Urgh!

Sorry to hear about your fish Matt. Why not get a smaller tank to keep the beta in which will give you more options as to what you can keep in the community tank?

Well, I have no room for another tank, and I refuse to house one in a small confine. I purchased my Betta almost as a rescue purchase. He is so beautiful and he looked like crap and absolutely miserable in the little cup he was being displayed in. I figured he'd love a large tank, but I realized shortly afterwards this would seriously impede my stocking options.

It's alright though, I'm mad at him right now but he's just too cute. At least he has personality. My ABF just hung around his plants and only acknowledged me during feeding time. He used me

Still, sad he's gone.

Pretty Bettas are a great way to spread fish-keeping love. Show him to one of your friends and they won't be able to resist!
