so I think I answered my own question this morning:(
With almost a complete year of having this eel...with NO issues what so ever...
I came downstairs to find him dried up on the hardwood floor in front of the tank:(

ugh..sooo miserable hha..I HIGHLY doubt I'll be able to find another eel for such a long time...

pfft I can't figure it out? Like he's never even TRIED to get out..and I have everything sealed..and he was in front of the tank?I'm surprised the dogs didn't get him:(..I contacted my LFS today and they're going to keep in touch with me everytime they get their order list and they'll get me another one..*sighs*...still not the same..
I was kinda thinking just to go with another type of eel? I hate the thought of a "replacement" haha...any eels that are colourful and pleasant?size isn't an issue as the fire eels length I was well aware of and was/am willing to accomodate..

Looking for any suggestions though..Have some time to snoop around..noone in town has any eels what so ever anyway but...if they do manage to get an order list of another type of eel it'd be nice to get some input prior to:)

Thanks..:(haha

I don't know what size tank you have....all the ones I know of get huge. I particularly like the snowflake eel..I was going to try to give you facts but I got contradiction..I believe my LFS keeps them in freshwater but when I search they come up under salt. The only others I have seen are the yellow eel and the tiretrack. Those are the common ones kept here.

Yaeh..I believe the snowflake eel starts in freshwater and slowly moves its way into salt. A lot of LFS constantly sell them as freshwater but I hear/read that they won't last long that way...

I have a 30 gallon, 55,120(just purchased)...180 gallon and I'll be building with my uncle in the comming months a 400 galloon plywood tank in the basement:) the fire eel was going to eventually be moved to the 180 for awhile but..since he was only 9 inchs..I don't think it would've been fair..I had him in the 55 to grow out a little more.

Yeah i figured it was like the puffer thing..where people will keep them in freshwater until they get larger then add the salt...in my opinion if I was getting a fish that should be in brackish that's what he should always be in.

Gees you have so many options..lol.. you could fit a nice sized snub nosed eel in that tank..That's not an actually type..I just like eels with snubbed noses..

Are the tanks FW or any SW?

all FW haha..I just haven't been able to get myself sold on SW..I absolutly love them..but, I just can't commit to something like that lol..I know..sounds ridiculous since I'm sucha fish consumer haha.

Actually I plan on selling the 30 gallon soon:) I only had it because fish stores ect really don't sell fish large enough to just put in a mature tank. so generally they start off in my 30 gallon or 55..makes it easier:) but..I think I'm going to suffer with only the 55 shortly:)
I just got my rena xp3 filter in the mail yesterday for the 120 gallon so..once the boyfriend builds the stand it'll start the cycling process AND I'll be moving fish around once again haha:)

snubbed nosed eel?hmm picture?
