Black Ghost Knife gone missing!

My boyfriend and I set up a 50 gallon a few months ago with a black ghost knife and various other fish. We have never had problems with him taking on the other fish and trying to eat them; not even any fin nipping. He was feeding well on blood worms and sinking wafers along with the rest of our fish and seemed perfectly fine. Today my boyfriend came home and fed them only to find our BGK was missing! We have turned over everything in the tank - every rock, hidey cave, fake plant - and I've checked all around the chest our tank is sitting on to see if he jumped out. He isn't ANYWHERE! Any suggestions on what might have happened? He was a good 5 inches long so it's not like he could have gotten sucked into the filter or anything.

He was the biggest thing in there with the exception of our larger angel who is about 4 - 5 inches long. But he's a veil tail and doesn't have any bite to him. There's really nothing that could've eaten him. My boyfriend was saying he might've just died for one reason or another (which I doubt) and then the other fish just ate him, but we had seen him four days prior and i just don't think the other fish in the tank could've gobbled up an entire BGK including bones in that amount of time. too strange.

Any other pets in the house? A lady at work once bought an eel and placed it in her tank next to her desk. A couple days later,it was found out in the hall outside her office.

Wow. That's freaky. Maybe he jumped? BGKs usually don't, but will sometimes. Mine regularly gets his head up out of the water when he's skimming the top looking for food. The only other explanation is someone took it. BGKs do look really cool. 8)

I lost my first knife fish (knify). I thought I threw it out while cleaning the Jew weed from my tank. I finally bought another knife fish and called it knify 2. Well, now months later after knify 2 has all grown up he does a hodini on me. This is soo freaky, I had to google it and I found this post. He was the biggest fish in my tank at the time he disappeared. Both knify's were fully grown.

you know, it's very weird. there are tons of people talking about thiers just going missing, I have had FOUR go missing as well. And i have my tank on white carpet, so I would have seen them if they had jumped. Supposedly, the people that live where they're imported from believe that thier dead ancestors souls take refuge in the BGK's. Very weird.
