I've mentioned this a few times already - you should quarantine the BGK by itself, so if you are going to get rid of the oscar, DON;T get any other fish.

All I have to do is pick up some different substrate because the sand in there has my ph at 8ish. Out of my tap it's 7-7.5, though. I do 25-50% WC every 3 days on all of my tanks to ensure I don't have a chance to get to harmful levels. Would the pH even harm him at 8? I read they will do fine with this pH and adapt well.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!!
I also want to mention that fish can be quite stressed out when first arriving at the store. If they are coming in tomorrow, you might want to wait a week and pop in and see how the tank is doing while they settle in. They could loose 50% per shipment of some species for all you know. Our store has a mandatory settling period of a few days to a week depending.

I think what Jaysee is saying is: If you are taking the Oscar back, and NO ONE is currently in the big tank (which you intend for Angels some day) put the BGK into the big tank... where ever he is going to end up. Make it so that he is alone and by default is in QT anyway. Make sense?

I planned on him being the only one in the QT. It's only 10 gal and I want to get the new one on pellets ASAP. I've decided to bring the Oscar back.

Will the pH be an issue, JC?

I wasn't planning on getting the angels right away. I apologize for the confusion. I really don't want to put him in the 75 because I spent a long time getting that tank up and now that it's time to start stocking, I am petrified of introducing disease into the tank. I really don't want to have to start all over due to something silly like ich. Not to mention, it will be easier to target feed the BGK in the smaller tank due to their size.

I would leave him at the shop for a week but they don't keep them in the shop for that long, so unfortunately, it's really not an option. /:

I actually would not put it in the main tank - not till its eating pellets. A 10 is large enough to quarantine a small one ~3-4 inches.

When you go to the store, ask them to feed the tank. You'll see what they are eating, and you'll see if any are not eating. You don't want one that isn't eating. Get the biggest one that is eating.

What I did for mine, is feed it frozen blood worms to get it eating in the new tank. I fed the bloodworms for a little while and then severely cut back on the bloodworms and introduced pellets. Feeding a small amount of blood worms gets it in the feeding mode, which helps it explore new foods more readily. Feed some pellets after it has eaten all the worms. They can tell as soon as food is in the tank. The issue is getting them to recognize pellets as food.

Jaysee, that creature seems magical. The way it moves in and out among the drift wood. Forward and backward. Amazing!!

they are also pretty much blind and use small electrical currents to "see" where they are going (just to add to the oddball traits). im sorry about your ghost, but im happy that you decided to try again! i have mine with angels and they make a beautiful tank together!!!!

Alright, everyone, thank you. I'm excited to get my new little buddy today. Gonna do a 75% WC in the 10 before I leave so it's nice and sparkly clean for the fella. The decoration I have in there is hollow so I'm going to turn that on its side and I also have the tube still in there as well. I'll see if I can't get him a decoration after I return the Oscar but it really just depends on money.

My 75 sprung a leak so it isn't even a possibility as of right now. It needs to be resealed and the silicone is gonna have to sit for around 2 weeks after I use it due to my location being so unbelievably humid (and currently cold). I should be able to get it sealed next week. (I can get the stuff Monday, then it's a matter of when I can do it)
