The African knife fish is a nocturnal predator. It is fairly adaptable to a wide variety of water conditions. It is best kept with peaceful fish (no guppies) larger than itself and provided with plenty of hiding places thru the day, or when the lights are on. A planted tank seems to be greatly appreciated.

Great fish in my opinion.8) I've kept one before and it managed to eat several livebearers. This was one time ages ago when I have not realized yet that it was predatory.:quiet: A BGK would be cooler in terms of appearance.;)

From what i understand is that afericans are among the only knife fish that are schooling olong with baby whales and eliphant noses. I am not sure how right i am so dont take my word for it as 1 of my first mistakes was stiking a black ghost knife in with a clown knife. Well lets just say that the clown knife won along with beating and killing an oscar in the same night.

I dont see a problem with that but what i know about these species i only have book knowledge but they both like low light, planted tank with hiding spots, smaller slower fish , and low light.
