I've only kept Pistia stratiotes
in my outdoor pond during summer, and I brought it indoors during winter. It gets fairly large, around 6-8 inches across grown outdoors, and reproduces quite quickly. Kasselmann says it does well in aquaria, remaining a bit smaller; not fussy about water. It reproduces via runners, similar to Frogbit.
