Lightbulb Tank mates for gouramis?

Hi, i have a 45 gallon tank with one red velvet platty, 2 kissing gourmi and 2 blue gaurami. I was wondering what would be a good combination of tank mates for my aquarium? thank you for your help.

Kissing gourami get quite large, and I would hesitate to add many more fishes to 45 gal.
Maybe five or six corydoras assuming the tank is cycled and substrate is not too sharp.

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.

I agree with 1077, some corys would make a nice addition and would add some interest to the bottom of your tank, I would go with a group of at least 7.

I would get rid of the Kissing Gourami, as mentioned they get large, up to 12 inches, and need at least a 4-foot tank though that is probably pushing it too. And they can get a bit nasty as they mature. Click the shaded name to se the profile.

With the KG gone, the blue gourami should be fine if they are a pair (m/f) or both female; two males can be rough, gourami are territorial fish. Other fish can be any of the medium rasbora or characins. Avoid active fish like danio and barb which can unsettle the sedate gourami.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
