Sexing a Pearl Gourami...still can't tell

I have a single Pearl Gourami in my planted tank. I have read up on gender differences in the species (males tending to have brighter coloration and more pointed anal and dorsal fins), but am still unable to tell the sex of mine. Here are some photos. If anyone can identify it, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Looks like a male - you can tell because it has filaments growing from its anal fin. Too, the dorsal fin is bigger. However, males are not supposed to be plump like that. How long have you had it?

You think it's plump? How can you tell? I've had the Pearl for about 3 months now.

It's gut looks plump - Like a female holding eggs. The colors are washed out a little, further making it look like a female. But the fins indicate male. What do the fishs poops look like?

Here is a photo showing a pair, the male at the top the female below. I can't use this in the profile since it is copyright, but I can use it in a post for illustration.

Honestly, your fish looks like its both... Body of a female with fins of a male.

The swollen belly is a concern to me, as I do believe its a male. It might be parasites, which could be causing stress to the fish, which could result in washed out colors. That's why I asked about its poops. Just a theory that explains everything.

Hmm... I'll post pictures of its poop as soon as possible. I did notice that when I slightly disturb the substrate, there are indeed little white worm-looking things that my neons eat whenever I disturb the substrate. Anyone know what it is? I doubt I can get a shot of it. Really tiny white worms, anyone?
