Hi,
I have a blood gourami and a powder blue gourami in the same tank. I was made aware that these are both speices of the dwarf gourami and therefore have a possibility to breed. Lately the blood gourami's belly has been growing I'm not sure if that means that it is a female and it is holding or not, or if it is just the process of it growing. Thanks for the help

Your question is answered in our profile of this fish, click on the shaded name (only for the Dwarf Gourami, the shaded name Blue Gourami is another species that the auto shading recognizes on its own and not the dwarf) or use the second tab from the left in the blue bar at the top.

The blue gourami I have looks very much like the dwarf, it was sold in the store as a powder blue gourami and looks very similar to the ones under the dwarf tab and not like the ones under the blue gourami at all. When i got home from work today they seemed to be spawning together (red one on his/her side with blue one almost holding on) but also nipping a little. I will post a picture later tonight and maybe figure out what the blue one actually is.

Yep. Have three of these guys myself. Unless one of them is a much less brilliant and more greyish-silverish hue, you'll be having two males there. Mine like to eat and have fairly rotund bellies. They may have been vying for territory.
