internal bleeding

This is a discussion on internal bleeding within the Anabantids forums, part of the Freshwater and Tropical Fish category; --> I swear I'm not trying to spam the boards here. Seriously though, if my gourami is bleeding internally, is there any hope for him? ...

I swear I'm not trying to spam the boards here. Seriously though, if my gourami is bleeding internally, is there any hope for him? Let's be realistic here :(

Realistically, no. Sorry. If it's a large enough bleed that you can see him turning red under the skin, then there's nothing can really be done. I had a cory die that way after getting caught on my filter intake, it was very sad, but pretty quick if it's any consolation.

Since it's been 48 hrs and he's not dead, I think it was open wounds/missing scales. I didn't have the willpower to euthanize him Sunday, so not he's just medicating :(

Yay! That's great news! Internal bleeding will usually spread pretty quickly. Make sure you keep the water as clean as possible and treat with 1-2 tsp/gallon of aquarium salt to keep any open wound from getting infected.

He gets 100% water changes and new salt, plus medications. I don't have much hope for him, since he shows no more vivacity now than he did on Sunday. He does look better, though.
