My understanding of Gourami's is that the male has a more pointed upper fin (dorsal) than the female. You sometimes need to see two of the opposite sex side by side, to determine the difference, as it can be a bit slight. You can check that out at a petstore, and than go home and see if yours looks more like a male or female. If you take a picture, someone would likely be able to tell you on this forum. I'm betting it's a girl. By reading your other post, your tank is small for a Gourami, unless it's a dwarf, but I believe the Gold Gourami gets to be 5 inches in length.
