Hi everyone.
Today I noticed that my Honey sunset gourami has a bloated belly. He also has gotten lazy and lies down on surfaces, mostly on the gravel although sometimes it is on fake or real plant leaves. I think he is a male? He is reddish Orange with a blue stripe on the top. The one I think is a female is smaller and is a very pale gold. I think the problem is we are feeding him too much? We put in 1 click of JBL Novo GranoMix mini a day and he easily eats half of it. Can anyone give us any advice as to how we should proceed?
Thanks so much,
Kieran

Sorry to hear that an sorry nobody replied sooner I've been off the site for several weeks and would hope I'd been o assistance.

It looked like he had dropsy. If you lookfrom above and the scales stick out like a pinecone that I what it is. Unfortunately many gouramis suffer from this and there is really no cure.

All my Redwag Platys have developed sickness and were terminated with the usual ice & water method.
In the same tank water I now have half a dozen male Dwarf Guoramis, which are doing fine.

Though male Gouramis are territorial, the trick is to keep enough of them together to avoid continuous bullying. Unavoidably there will be challenges and minor 'skirmishes'. Guoramis are not like Bettas who viciously tear up finnage and chew bodies. The Guoramis' antics are a joy to watch. After a week of nervous timidness, they will become 'tame' and excitedly come for food whenever you come near the tank.
