Hi everyone.
I have had my paradise fish ( peepeopie) for over a year now. I don't know his sex but am presuming he is a male. he is a very excitable fish, comes to the glass for his crickets, jumps through a hoop out of the water (plastic tubing) for his blood worm, plays with frozen peas etc.
Anyway I bought him a confirmed female the other day. left her in the bag for a good 30 mins in his tank, within about 30 seconds he started colouring up and she started developing intense banding along her body they were swimming around and flirting the whole time. so I though I may have been right in guessing that my original was a male.
anyway I have now noticed that she is seriously dominant of him, every time she swims towards him he turns on his side and moves away very slowly, all the while on his side.... is this normal or could my boy possibly be a girl?

Can you post clear photos of the 2 fish? What you are describing sounds like a dominant/submissive display going on, but it could be a few other things... with a clear photo it shouldn't be too difficult to tell male/female, especially if there is a good shot of the spread dorsal fins. If you can capture some shots of their ritual to add in, even better.

Also, how much decoration is in the tank? A pic of the whole tank would help too.
