gourami color change??

So i was doing my monthly changings, gravel vacuumed and change 10% of the water, i also changed the filter pads and added a plant background. when i stepped back i saw my three spot gourami with some WEIRD colors! the white/silvery dots on his fins where very bright and he had no spots at all, instead he looked like an opaline gourami! very dark vibrant vertical stripes that were scwiggly, i was wondering what this was?? dont worry he turned back to a three spot right before i came up here to post this. any ideas?

Could have been a stress pattern or maybe fight or flight pattern.

i think that the enviroments and mood changes fish's colors but im not sure, its cool to see it happen though, come back and ur fish is another color, i know my betta is starting to get a very vibrant color blue on his body in places that it wasnt there before, maybe as they get older it happens, but if it changed right back then i dont know
