I have 5 fish in my tank right now: a giant danio, two mollies, a chinese algae eater, and a gold gourami. the mollies get along fine with all of the fish and the algae eater just chills on the sides of the tank, but the danio (who is only a little larger than the gourami) sometimes chases the gourami into a corner behind some plants and tries to nip her fins. he only does this occasionally, but im wondering if it is because he is bored. I'm thinking about adding another fish to help keep the peace but im not sure if I should get another danio for him to play with, or another gourami so the danio isn't so aggressive. any suggestions?

I cycled one of my tanks with three giant danios. They are always having little spats with eachother, but they leave the rest of my fish alone. (there is never any real damage) I think if you add another danio or two, they will be more occupied with eachother and leave the gouami alone. You need to be careful adding gouramis, if you have two males they will fight. (gouramis fighting can cause some damage)

How big is your tank? Giant danios get fairly large but they also need lots of swimming room. Provided you have at least a 4' tank, you should bring up the school size of danios to six or more. They're really hyperactive fish and I can see one bugging other fish if it doesn't have more danios to play with.
