Feeding: Gouramis

I've been feeding my kissing gouramis Nutrafin Flakes for some time. But now, im seeing something strange. Now, instead of eating at the top of the water, they pull the flakes into their mouths, and then spits it back out. The flakes then fall to the bottom of the tank.

Im beginning to wonder if they like the flakes or not the flakes. Or are they letting it fall to the bottom so they eat at the bottom instead of the top. They dont to this with with blood worms or the spirulina.

It might be a matter of wanting their food softer so they are spitting it out and letting it soften up before they eat it. You might want to try and vary their diet even more with some fruits and vegetables.
