You are in for a treat. Just take good care of him and enjoy him. I've breed hundreds of different types of fish and bettas always seem to pop up in my projects every few years. Back in the 80s-90s I used to wholesale fish and still remember the bettas coming in from asia in thumb size bags 1,000-2,000 per box. Half were DOA, another forth were headed that way and the forth alive were really rough. I only brought them in twice and decided to raise my own. Looking at the fish a Pet Whatever stores reminds me way too much of how it was and likely is.
