currents in tanks for gouramis?

I have 4 gouramis in a 20 gallon tank but i use an overpowered 30 gallon filter for it and it creates quite a current...the plecos I know like it but will the gouramis be bothered? if so how do I reduce the current without sacking my filter?

also what is the optimum temperature for a 3 spot gourami?

22-27 degrees Celsius is fine for the gouramis. Divert the flow towards the glass. Gouramis dwell mostly at the surface so it wouldn't be a good idea to point the flow towards the surface.

I have many gouramis, my flow points just below the surface it causes the swirling of the surface that i feel is necessary to keep the surface clean. I do keep the back still though for thier tranquility. I've seen my fish swim into the flow maybe thier exercising , well it can't hurt.

I put a tall rock that almost sticks out of the water directly into the flow pathway and they all seem to be more active after the current has been dropped so I guess its a plus to eliminate currents for gouramis. before they all only used to shelter in plants and caves to escape the draft
