Blues can work in a community tank, but fish that are much slower than they are can really get the short end of the stick. My cherry barbs have been stressed out and outcompeted since my blues have started to put on some heft (I have a big gold female who's pushing 4", and a Male Opaline around 3 1/2). So yes, as long as it's an active tank.

Actually, I was asking beetlebz. ;)

At 2.5" they might be large enough to get the glowlights whole. My LFS got a collection of golds after they started attacking the other fish. One was really adept at sucking out the eyes of the other fish. I'd keep an eye out on the fish. Blue's will get to ~4" which will be significantly larger than the tetras.

Danios, Loaches, Harlequins, SAEs - I've been keeping the last three with a pair of Blues, and danios should be fast enough to get out of the way.

I keep mine in my aggressive tank with other fish willing to dish out. RTS, Rainbow sharks, tiger barbs, and stuff not small enough to accidentally wind up in a mouth.

Gold gouramis are very peaceful and can go with a very large variety of fish I just wouldn't recomend them with puffers. :P
