Yes, they can although they may rival other male anabantids and harass smaller tankmates.

lets see... at the moment i have 2 blue gouramis with now 8 glowlight tetras, 2 corys and 1 pleco. granted i added the gouramis way later than the rest of the fish but it looks like the corys run the show lol

the gouramis just hang out behind the wall or up at the top of the tank, havnt seen em bother anyone yet

How large are your gouramis? Blue and Gold gouramis are more of an aggressive fish. Pearls would be more suited for community tanks, but they tend to get large enough to be a threat for the glowlights.

my gouramis? oooh id say 2- 2 1/2 inches or so. they hang out at the top of the tank or hide, most of the time they hang out by the filter inlet tube at the top of the tank.

the only time they are ever in the same place at the same time is in transit to their hiding place behind my little wall or during feeding time, and have not even given the tetras a second glance.
