Betta acting strangely?

my betta is acting strangely. not sure what it is, possibly just tired?

His dorsal fin is clamped, and hes lying on the gravel on his side. i havent seen him do this before, and ive had him almost 8 months. when i walk up to the tank he swims up and he eats well when i feed him, im just worried about the lying on the bottom of the tank. All the water parameters are perfect, and ive tested and re-tested the water numerous times today.

He's always been healthy, swimming around. Im quite worried. Any suggestions of what the problem might be?

What's the weather like? Mine tend to be especially lethargic on really hot days.

What's the temp. in the tank??

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Hmmm..... good temp. What size tank and what's your water change schedule? Do you use a good water conditioner and tap water when you do your water changes?

Yes, i use conditioner. its 5gals, i change 30% every 1-2wks.

There was another betta who had it, it was a split tank, but it died. i think this one caught it. I got a new betta, but im worried to put it in the tank, incase it catches whatever my other one has. so, hes in a jar/vase for now.
