Anybody have dwarf Gouramis expierence?

I just set up a 20 gallon long tank and after its cycled i plan on getting 4-6 cory catfish (bottom dwellers) a school of some type of tetras THEN i would like to get 1-2 larger bodied fish.
I LOVE the colors of the male dwarfs but i really don't want something thats going to be aggressive to the other fish.
I heard if you only get a male, he hides and is aggressive.
And if you get a male and a female, he can be aggressive with the female for spawning?

Also does anybody have any suggestions of another largish bodied fish LIKE the gourami but not so aggressive? I like silver dollars but i think they may get to large even though the tank is a long tank.

Any help would be great!
THANKS!

I've got 4 Dwarf Gouramis and they are only territorial with themselves and not overly so. When food's out, they don't really enforce the territorials boundries, other times, they will run each other off, and after hiding, the others will join them in hiding. Though I've only got the 4 in a 90g.

youre right not to get the silver dollars - theyd get far too big.

black skirt/widow tetras are nice, and have a fuller body which you were looking for. they also dont get too big which would be necessary for your tank. only thing is that they like to be in shoals so youd need 4-6 minimum for them to shoal together which im not sure youd want to do.

Black skirt's do fine when they can shoal with other types of fish. But I much prefer the look of a large group of them, I plan on expanding my 4 to around 8 when I get my 20 gallon long.
